Metal pipes are not good against temperature variation. In the summer it can get very warm and in winter it can get very cold. Proper insulation is one of the biggest pros for this option and that is one more big reason that can encourage you to choose this in your home or office.

Cons of PVC plumbing

Heat constraints: Although PVC pipes can sustain in a good amount of heat, but if that temperature goes beyond a certain limit, that your pvc pipes may start having some damages in it. Due to excessive heat your pipes may get melted from inside, it can have other damages and it can have leakage as well. Thankfully this is one of those cons that does not affect many people because your water heater comes with a safety measure and it does not allow the water to boil beyond a certain temperature. The only thing you need to remember is that you keep a check on your water boiler and if you notice anything is wrong in that, then you get it corrected without any delay.

Higher Cost: Cost is one of the biggest cons for pvc plumbing. Many people may assume that PVC could be cheaper in terms of installation or overall expenses, but that is not the fact. As a matter of fact this option could be more costlier than the metal option. This is definitely one of those cons that can restrict you to use it. However, you don’t have to worry much about this, because only installation cost is higher and if you check its life time compared to metal plumbing, then it is much higher. That means you would not have to worry about investing money again and again in every few years. Nor you would have to pay for the damage restoration due to plumbing work. So, this is one of those cons that can be a profitable option on long term basis.

Environment issues: PVC is not safe for environment. This is a fact and you don’t need to get degree to understand this fact. It can have various side effects on the nature because it does not dissolve naturally, its making is not environment friendly and you can find so many other cons similar to this. Other than this, you also need to know that if you fail to choose the PVC plumbing for your home in a proper manner, then you may end up having no positive results at all. So, it is a wise idea that you keep that thing also in your mind while checking its cons. But if you would choose right kind of pipes from a trustworthy brand, then you can get rid of this issue as well and you can get pipes that are completely safe for you and your family. Hence, if you want to use PVC for your home plumbing, then this is not one of those cons that can restrict you in its usage.
